HV Corona Check Maintenance Process for the CN→IN Corridor

Maintenance & process guide, Rev. 14. Audience: OEM service coordinators, importers, EPC site engineers moving HV equipment from China to India. Reference equipment family: Huawei SUN2000-330KTL-H1 string inverter skid busbar; OEM manual "SUN2000-330KTL-H1 User Manual", edition 13, 2024-09 (model assumption cited where datasheet values are quoted). Evidence date: 2026-09-22. Limitation: no specific certificate number is referenced on this revision; cite the standard designation and edition only.

Verdict & decision table

Verdict (revision 14, evidence date 2026-09-22): Use the 8-step HV Corona Check cycle on the CN→IN corridor whenever an HV asset above 33 kV class has spent more than 30 days in transit or crosses a climatic band. Reference equipment family used to anchor the 5 kV IR test voltage, UV scan voltage and PD limits: Huawei SUN2000-330KTL-H1 string inverter skid busbar, per OEM manual "SUN2000-330KTL-H1 User Manual", edition 13, 2024-09 (Huawei FusionSolar product landing; model assumption — manual revision to be re-verified at RFQ). Horizon: one full cycle ≈ 4–6 working days per asset (T0–T6 slots). Indicative budget: USD 600–2,000 ex-mobilisation per asset, not including transit or parts. Limitation: this page is a process guide, not an engineering instruction; OEM datasheet values override these indicative slots.

Scope

This guide covers the maintenance and inspection sequence used when a high-voltage asset is checked for corona activity after arrival from a Chinese origin and before commissioning at an Indian site. The reference equipment family anchored in this revision is the Huawei SUN2000-330KTL-H1 string inverter skid busbar (public product page: Huawei FusionSolar product landing), whose user manual supplies the 5 kV IR test voltage, the UV scan voltage class and the PD measurement band cited below (manual title "SUN2000-330KTL-H1 User Manual", edition 13, 2024-09 — model assumption; revision to be re-verified at RFQ). The guide is a process companion to TradVolt Guide R7 (acceptance test) and R11 (in-service monitoring). It intentionally limits itself to inspection choreography, documents, timeline slots, and indicative cost bands; it does not produce engineering values.

Timeline table

Indicative working-time slots for one HV Corona Check cycle. Real durations depend on corridor congestion, monsoon hold, and OEM availability.
SlotActivityIndicative working time
T0Ticket raised and dossier opened0.5 working day
T1OEM dossier collected and indexed1–2 working days
T2Pre-arrival IR and visual check0.5 working day per asset
T3Daytime corona scan at service voltage0.5 working day per asset
T4Partial discharge correlation (IEC 60270:2000/AMD1:2015)0.5 working day per asset
T5Report writing and counter-sign1 working day
T6Action register and ticket closure0.5 working day

Total cycle ≈ 4–6 working days per asset (T0–T6), excluding transit and parts lead time.

Indicative cost table

Cost values below are indicative slots, not hard prices. Actual figures depend on the OEM service contract, the Indian service partner's rate card, and corridor congestion. UNCERTAIN values are marked.

FAQ

1. Is the HV Corona Check mandatory for every CN→IN shipment?

It is mandatory when the receiving contract or the Indian licensed service partner's commissioning protocol requires it. Otherwise, it is recommended for any HV asset above 33 kV class that has spent more than 30 days in transit or that crosses a climatic band.

2. Can the corona scan be done at night?

Daytime UV / UV-IR dual-spectrum cameras are designed for full daylight operation. Night-only scans reduce ambient noise but lose the ability to correlate UV activity with visual hotspots under sunlight.

3. What happens if the partial discharge reading does not correlate with the UV hotspot?

The point is tagged monitor, not repair. A follow-up scan is scheduled at the next maintenance window, typically within 90 to 180 days, before any repair ticket is opened.

4. Who is allowed to counter-sign the HV Corona Check report?

The importer coordinator on record in the TradVolt RFQ workspace. For repair verdicts, an OEM-authorised signatory or an Indian licensed HV service partner must co-sign, per the CEA Safety Regulations for Electric Supply co-sign rule for HV work.

5. How does this guide relate to Guide R7 and Guide R11?

Guide R7 covers the factory acceptance test at the OEM site. Guide R14 (this document) covers the corona check after arrival. Guide R11 covers periodic in-service monitoring once the asset is in operation.
