CN-EU Cable Joint Maintenance Inspection Process (R14)

Maintenance & process guide for procurement, QA, and customs teams moving Nexans Euromold 434SR cable joints from China to the EU.

Verdict & decision table

1 process (10 steps, 2 marked procedure-shell-only) | Equipment: Nexans Euromold 434SR separable T-body cable joint (MV premoulded elbow family, IEC 60502-2:2014 ratings) | Location: importer warehouse, EU port of entry | Horizon: D+0 to D+20 working days | Evidence date: 2026-09-27 | Limitation: torque values, partial-discharge limits, and insulation-resistance limits are MODEL ASSUMPTIONS until the OEM installation manual revision is retrieved at RFQ. Step 6 (electrical & insulation test) and Step 7 (torque & mechanical verification) are restricted to procedure-shell scope.

Step-sequence process

The following table defines the owner, input document, output document, and completion criterion for each step. One owner is assigned per step to avoid dual accountability. This SOP applies to the Nexans Euromold 434SR separable cable joint. Steps 6 and 7 are restricted to procedure-shell scope pending retrieval of the OEM installation manual revision at RFQ.

OEM manual note (R12): Steps 6 and 7 are restricted to procedure-shell scope. No torque value, partial-discharge threshold, or insulation-resistance limit is asserted in this SOP. The relevant document — Nexans Euromold 434SR Installation Manual, document title, revision number, and edition year — must be retrieved from the Nexans product page or supplied with the shipment before commissioning. Until the manual revision is in hand, all such limits are classified as MODEL ASSUMPTIONS and the test records in steps 6 and 7 remain a procedure shell only.

Tick each file before opening the joint inspection dossier. Filenames are literal; do not rename before archiving. The OEM datasheet filename references the Euromold 434SR model specifically.

FAQ

1. Who owns the inspection overall?

One QA Lead owns the dossier end-to-end. Inspectors, Customs Coordinators, and Procurement Specialists each own a single step, but the QA Lead is the single sign-off authority.

2. Can we skip steps 6 or 7 if the lot is small?

No. Steps 5-7 are mandatory regardless of lot size. However, steps 6 and 7 are currently procedure-shell only: the test method is logged, but pass/fail limits (torque, partial-discharge, insulation resistance) cannot be set until the OEM installation manual revision is retrieved at RFQ. Skipping either step entirely voids the dossier and may invalidate the OEM warranty position.

3. What if the OEM refuses an RMA?

The Procurement Specialist escalates per the OEM warranty terms. Document the refusal in writing, archive with the dossier, and consult the importer of record before releasing the lot.

4. Are CE and UKCA both required?

CE is required for the EU. UKCA is required for Great Britain only. Confirm the destination market before shipment so the correct declaration is in the dossier from day one.

5. How long must the dossier be retained?

Retention depends on the destination member state and the importer of record's policy. Confirm with your compliance team; the JID file naming supports multi-year retention without renaming.

6. Does this SOP cover other Euromold models (e.g. 484LR, 489LR)?

The procedure shell applies in principle to the wider Euromold 434SR / 484LR / 489LR separable T-body family, but each model's torque, PD, and insulation limits are specific to that model's datasheet revision and installation-manual revision. For other models, substitute the matching OEM datasheet and installation-manual revision; do not transfer limits across models.

7. What document is missing for steps 6 and 7 to be fully populated?

The Nexans Euromold 434SR Installation Manual — exact document title, revision number, and edition year. Until that document is on file (supplied with the shipment or downloaded from the OEM product page), steps 6 and 7 remain procedure-shell only.

Note on OEM manual revision (R12): The Nexans Euromold 434SR Installation Manual — document title, revision number, and edition year — is not in hand. Until the manual revision is retrieved at RFQ from the Nexans product page or supplied with the shipment, steps 6 and 7 of this SOP are procedure-shell only: the test method and owner sequence are defined, but no torque value, partial-discharge threshold, or insulation-resistance limit is asserted. All such limits are classified as MODEL ASSUMPTIONS.
