Verdict. Execute the DC string reverse on a Sungrow SG250HX string inverter (Service Manual Rev 1.6, 2023) following an 8-step sequence, gating field work on (a) OEM-authorised personnel, (b) Lock Out — Tag Out with verified zero DC voltage per NFPA 70E-2024 Article 120, and (c) insulation resistance ≥ 1 MΩ per IEC 62446-1:2016 Clause 6. Indicative horizon is ~6 working days (T0 → WO close) plus a 14-day post-maintenance review. Connectors are Stäubli MC4 (datasheet 2023 edition). No commissioning, no module replacement — corrective O&M only on operating CN-deployed plants in India.

A DC string reverse is a corrective procedure in which the polarity of an under-performing or mis-wired PV string is re-terminated at the combiner box to bring the string's I-V behaviour back inside the inverter's expected operating window. On a Sungrow SG250HX string inverter, this is performed with the inverter locked out, after zero DC voltage has been verified per NFPA 70E-2024 Article 120, and only after a Method Statement & Risk Assessment has been approved.
A reverse is indicated when monitoring flags a polarity-related anomaly (for example a string showing negative current or reversed Isc in the monitoring portal) and on-site insulation and continuity tests confirm conductors are intact. If modules themselves are degraded, a module-level replacement is the correct corrective action, not a reverse.
Authorisation must come from the inverter OEM's authorised service channel — for the SG250HX, this is the Sungrow regional service partner or Sungrow India Service Desk. Working without OEM authorisation can void the warranty and is not accepted under the TradVolt corridor maintenance protocol.
OEM-crimped Stäubli MC4 leads and torque-rated combiner components for the SG250HX may need to be sourced from Sungrow's China factory or its regional warehouse. Lead times should be added to the indicative mobilisation window in the timeline table above, and customs clearance time on the China export side plus CBIC import processing on the India side must be planned for.
It is a maintenance activity. Commissioning covers the initial energisation of a new plant; a string reverse is a corrective action on an operating plant and falls under the O&M contract scope, not the EPC commissioning scope.

Model assumption. The Sungrow SG250HX Service Manual Rev 1.6 (2023) is named as the reference document for torque values (typ. 8–10 N·m for MC4 combiner terminations), insulation resistance thresholds, and the cool-down window (typ. 5 min after LOTO removal). The exact numerical values quoted in Step 5 and Step 6 above are indicative model assumptions pending the project BoQ referencing the manual revision; the field crew must read the operative revision before applying any torque, IR threshold, or cool-down value.
