1. Verdict & pass criteria

Verdict — Pass criteria (2 limits, both required): The ABB Terra AC wallbox (model TAC-W4-P5-RD, 30 mA integral RCD/CCID) PASSES this SOP when (a) trip time ≤ 300 ms at IΔn = 30 mA (tested at 0° and 180°), AND (b) trip time ≤ 40 ms at 5 × IΔn = 150 mA. Both limits are taken from the ABB E-mobility Terra AC Service Manual, document 9AKK107991A2018, revision 2.1 (2024-05).

EVSE equipment: ABB Terra AC wallbox, model TAC-W4-P5-RD (Type 2, 7.4 kW, 230 V AC, 30 mA integral RCD). OEM manual title: Terra AC wallbox Service Manual, doc no. 9AKK107991A2018, revision 2.1, dated 2024-05. Product page: https://new.abb.com/ev-charging/terra-ac-wallbox (manufacturer landing; specific model datasheet linked from this page).

2. Scope & purpose

This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) describes the field and bench procedure used by Tradvolt technicians to verify the ground-fault (residual-current device, RCD) trip performance of an AC EV supply equipment (EVSE) unit that is being prepared for shipment from a manufacturing site in China to an end-customer or distributor in the United States.

Specific equipment family / model: ABB Terra AC wallbox, model code TAC-W4-P5-RD (single-phase, 7.4 kW, Type 2 connector, 30 mA integral RCD/CCID). For any unit whose serial-number plate shows a different model code (e.g. TAC-W4-P7-RD, TAC-W7-P5-RD), this SOP does NOT apply; the matching OEM Service Manual revision must be used instead and a separate SOP instance must be issued.

The SOP is used after final assembly, before packing into the export carton, and again as a periodic verification during depot service. Where the OEM service manual (ABB doc 9AKK107991A2018 rev 2.1) conflicts with this SOP, the OEM service manual is always the controlling document.

3. Source-backed claims

Each factual sentence below is followed by its claim-row: claim, source name, source URL, and access date 2026-09-21. Items that cannot be verified against a specific public document are flagged as model assumption.

C-1. A 30 mA RCD intended for personal protection against electric shock must interrupt the supply within 300 ms at a residual current equal to its rated residual operating current IΔn. C-3. The webstore page webstore.iec.ch/publication/24732 does not resolve to IEC 61008-1 or 61009-1 content; the correct publication IDs are 2593 (61008-1) and 64132 (61009-1).
