Inverter DC-Link Capacitor Health Check — Corridor CN→ID

Document type: Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) | Vertical: Solar Balance-of-Systems (BoS) | Trade lane: China (CN) → Indonesia (ID) | Owner team: Tradvolt Field Engineering

Scope. This SOP governs the on-site health assessment of DC-link capacitors inside three-phase, grid-tied PV inverters (typically 50 kW – 250 kW nameplate) that have cleared the CN→ID import corridor and are entering scheduled or corrective maintenance. It applies to inverter cabinets originally manufactured in China and commissioned in Indonesia, and covers inspection, measurement, classification, and replacement criteria.

DC-link capacitors — usually metallised polypropylene film or aluminium-electrolytic banks — are the most age-sensitive component in a PV inverter. Heat, humidity, and ripple current degrade them. Indonesia's tropical climate (ambient 30–38 °C, relative humidity >80%) accelerates electrolyte drying, while long coastal shipping legs expose equipment to thermal cycling during container transit from Chinese OEM plants to Indonesian project sites.
