Audience: B2B trade-ops, freight forwarders, 3PL warehouse leads. Document revision: Rev. 14. Evidence-date: 2026-09-22.
Verdict: 12-step drill process — apply for Q1–Q4 2026 maintenance cadence; equipment family = Pylontech US5000 / BYD MC Cube / EVE LF304 cells / Huawei LUNA2000-215 Series / Sungrow ST2752UX (named, publicly marketed models with linked product/safety evidence; specific drill-time limits such as peak cell-surface temperature, vent-gas envelope, torque and SoC cell thresholds are model assumptions to be re-pinned at RFQ against the named OEM document); location = Shenzhen, Ningbo, Shanghai, or Qingdao → Long Beach, Rotterdam, Hamburg, or Jebel Ali; horizon = 2026 maintenance year (quarterly cadence per consolidation warehouse); limitation = rows 8, 9, 10 of §9 remain UNCERTAIN (carrier booking confirmation, logger config, consignee SLA register still pending); evidence-date = 2026-09-22.
| Step | Equipment / SKU (assumed unless stated) | Threshold | Source of threshold | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Step 3 — SoC cap | Pylontech US5000 / BYD MC Cube module | SoC ≤ 30 % | Sea-carrier booking confirmation (per shipment) | UNCERTAIN — model assumption |
| Step 4 — Packaging | UN 4H2/Y-rated drum + cells (Pylontech US5000 / EVE LF304) | Markings match cert; seal photo present | UN Model Regulations, Packing Instruction P002 / P003 (UN ST/SG/AC.10/1) | CONFIRMED — text-anchored; cite PI code + 4H2/Y designation at execution |
| Step 5 — Logger | ≥ 4 Hz sampling, ISO/IEC 17025:2017 calibration | Calibration in window | Engineering default (model assumption) | UNCERTAIN |
| Step 7 — Live drill | Sacrificial EVE LF304 prismatic cell; thermal-pad activation | Peak cell-surface temperature ≤ OEM datasheet envelope | EVE LF304 product page (evemall.com): 4000 cycles @25 °C to ≥80 %, 304 Ah / 3.2 V / 173.7×71.7×207.2 mm / 5450 g (drill-time thresholds model assumption) | CONFIRMED — limit to be re-pinned at RFQ |
| Step 9 — Cross-check | Logged values vs OEM datasheet envelope | Within OEM envelope (peak temp, vent-gas) | EVE / Pylontech / BYD datasheets — EVE LF304 product page; Pylontech US5000 spec PDF | CONFIRMED — specific envelopes to be pinned at RFQ against the cited documents |
| Step 12 — Cadence | Per consolidation warehouse | ≥ 1 drill / quarter | Customer SLA register (internal) | UNCERTAIN |
This guide defines the recurring drill sequence used to validate that lithium-ion battery (LiB) and battery-energy-storage-system (BESS) shipments moving on the CN → sea corridor — originating at Shenzhen, Ningbo, Shanghai, or Qingdao and discharging at Long Beach, Rotterdam, Hamburg, or Jebel Ali — remain inside thermal-runaway containment throughout the inland-leg-to-port, terminal-hold, and ocean-leg handover windows. It is a maintenance process document: it does not derive new procedures; it consolidates the recurring drill cadence, evidence chain, and named-source references that ops, safety, and trade-compliance teams run against.

Pricing rule: Tradvolt lists no hard prices in maintenance guides. Every figure above is an indicative slot until a named source is provided in the quote pipeline. Request a fixed quote via the RFQ form.
A printable PDF copy of the document checklist in §3 is available for warehouse posting and ERT binders. TradVolt does not host standalone /downloads/ paths; the checklist is delivered with the quote pack to verified B2B accounts.
Q1. How often must the thermal-runaway drill be repeated?
The drill cadence is set by carrier and consignee requirements, but at minimum once per quarter per consolidation warehouse. Any change in cell chemistry (e.g. swap from EVE LF304 LFP to NMC modules), supplier, or packaging cert triggers an out-of-cycle drill.
Q2. Can a previously drilled lot be re-used to train a new ERT team?
No. Each live drill must use a sacrificial module approved for destruction under the licensed waste-hauler contract. Re-using drilled lots is not permitted.
Q3. Who signs the closed CMMS record?
The Maintenance Engineer closes the CMMS ticket after steps 1–10 are evidenced; the EHS Lead counter-signs in step 12 during the monthly review.
Q4. What happens if a drill value falls outside the OEM datasheet envelope?
A CAPA ticket is opened in step 12, the lot is held, and the broker is notified before the DGD is amended. No shipment is released until the CAPA disposition is logged.
Q5. Why is the SoC cap usually 30 % for sea carriage?
Sea carriers in the CN → sea corridor typically cite a SoC ceiling on transported LiB; the exact public-clause source is not consistently disclosed in carrier booking terms. Tradvolt does not assert a normative rule where the source is silent — the 30 % figure is treated here as a model assumption until the named carrier booking confirmation is attached to the lot file.
