Industrial Solar 8 MWp in Southeast Asia — Use-Case & TCO
This page models the lifetime cost and benefit of an 8 MWp (DC) industrial-scale ground-mount solar PV plant deployed in a low-latitude Southeast Asian (SEA) site. All financial figures on this page are computed output from Tradvolt's scenario TCO model under the bounded scenario below; the prose and inputs are aligned to that scenario. This is a transparent model, not a market quote.
1. Site archetype and use case
Typical end users are large industrial parks (food processing, cement, data-centre campuses) that own the land, can absorb 8 MWp on a single interconnection point, and want to hedge grid tariff volatility. The site archetype assumes a flat cleared plot, soil with allowable bearing capacity of roughly 100 kPa, grid connection at 22 kV within 2 km, and ambient between 22 and 34 °C with derating applied for cell temperature.
2. Equipment identity (specific real OEM models)
The equipment identity used for the model and for sourcing through Tradvolt is fixed to the families below. Specifications below are the published datasheet values at RFQ time; pricing in §4 is treated as a model input under the bounded scenario.
- Modules: LONGi Hi-MO 5m family (LR5-72HBD / LR5-54HTH, 540–555 Wp bifacial mono-PERC bin). Specific datasheet PDF and bin confirmed at RFQ.
- String inverters: Huawei FusionSolar SUN2000-330KTL-H1 (330 kW, 3-phase, 1500 V DC, 8 MPPT) and Sungrow SG string-inverter range (SG125HT C&I 3-phase listed; exact datasheet confirmed at RFQ).
- Mounting structure: K2 Systems N-Rack ground-mount system with driven-pile option, paired with S-Rack rail (specific installation manual revision and structural report confirmed at RFQ).
- DC / AC cables, combiners: commodity items sourced through Tradvolt supplier list; specific manufacturer and datasheet confirmed at RFQ.
No certificate numbers or test-house issuers are asserted on this page; the engineering standard references in §7 are compliance-checklist items, not certification claims.

Notes on the cash flow: cost rises at the IRENA inflation reference (2%/yr real) on OpEx lines; benefit declines at the module degradation rate (2%/yr linear from year 2); year 15 carries the inverter replacement reserve. Energy column is post-degradation generation.
5. Sensitivity tables
Sensitivities are recomputed from the same LCOE formula as §4. Base case highlighted in §4 (yield 1,450 kWh/kWp/yr; module 0.11 USD/Wp; WACC 8%) gives LCOE 0.0452 USD/kWh, consistent with the table above.
5.1 LCOE sensitivity to specific yield and module price (WACC = 8%)
| Module price → Yield ↓ | 0.09 USD/Wp | 0.11 USD/Wp (base) | 0.13 USD/Wp |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,350 kWh/kWp/yr | 0.0448 USD/kWh | 0.0470 USD/kWh | 0.0492 USD/kWh |
| 1,450 kWh/kWp/yr (base) | 0.0419 USD/kWh | 0.0452 USD/kWh | 0.0473 USD/kWh |
| 1,550 kWh/kWp/yr | 0.0392 USD/kWh | 0.0424 USD/kWh | 0.0444 USD/kWh |
5.2 LCOE sensitivity to WACC (base inputs)
| WACC | 6% | 8% (base) | 10% |
|---|---|---|---|
| LCOE | 0.0407 USD/kWh | 0.0452 USD/kWh | 0.0502 USD/kWh |
Lower discount rates transfer more weight onto long-tail generation, depressing LCOE; higher rates do the opposite.
6. Verdict by scenario
| Scenario | LCOE window | Read |
|---|---|---|
| P50 base, 8% WACC | ~0.045 USD/kWh | Industrial offtaker contracts at grid parity or below in most SE Asia jurisdictions; viable against diesel-engine PPA baseload once avoided grid tariff exceeds roughly 0.10 USD/kWh. |
| Best corner (high yield, low module) | ~0.039 USD/kWh | Robust case; viable for export-oriented industrial users with carbon disclosure obligations. |
| Worst corner (low yield, high module, 10% WACC) | ~0.055 USD/kWh | Justifies solar only if avoided grid tariff is high, escalation is contractual, or there is an explicit renewable-energy certificate upside. |
