Maintenance Process: BMS Sensor Replacement on a CN → Sea Green-Tech Shipment

Process guide · Revision 14 · Audience: B2B service engineers, freight forwarders, aftermarket coordinators · Maintenance scope: Battery Management System (BMS) sensor module, in-transit replacement workflow, with customs dossier refresh · GATED scaffold (noindex).

Verdict (R14 page). Status: GATED — remains a process scaffold. Decision count: 6 (1 confirmed, 4 pending, 1 disclosed-none). Equipment (model/family): CATL EnerC (C&I BESS family); Sungrow PowerTitan2.0 (utility ESS, 2.5 MW / 5 MWh container, DC 1500 V) + SH5/6/8/10/12T residential hybrid (1000 V PV max, 16 A input, IP65) + SBR064-256 (3.2 kWh per LFP module, 6.4-25.6 kWh); Huawei LUNA2000-200KTL + SmartLi (FusionSolar); Deye SUN-5/6/8/10/12/15/20/25K-SG01HP3-EU-AM2 (160-700 V battery, 50 A charge/discharge) + BOS-G (51.2 V / 100 Ah / 5.12 kWh per module, 19-inch rack, >6000 cycles). BMS sensor: family-level for these models; exact P/N + OEM service manual revision recorded on PSR-CD-PV-05 (e.g. Sungrow BMS-board P/N per SH5-12T Service Manual rev. ≥2024-Q3; Huawei SmartLi BMS slave-board P/N per FusionSolar SmartLi Service Manual rev. ≥2023-Q4). Location: CN consolidation hub → sea port (origin → transit → destination). Horizon: T-72h → T+arrival (≈72 h pre-load + sea transit). Evidence date: 2026-09-22. Limitation: no CE / UKCA / FCC / UL certificate is held or displayed on this page for a specific unit; torque and validation values are OEM-manual-dependent and not published until the OEM service manual revision is recorded on PSR-CD-PV-05.

6 · FAQ

1. Can a BMS sensor be replaced once the unit is booked onto a vessel?

Only if the unit has been pulled out of the consolidation flow and is treated under the documented service-bay workflow (Steps 1–5). After gate-in at the origin terminal the safe options are (a) delay booking until post-service validation is complete, or (b) trigger a destination-side swap on arrival via the Aftermarket Coordinator. Sea-transit swaps are out of scope for R14.

2. Which document closes out the maintenance task for compliance?

The Post-Service Validation Report (PSR-RP-PSR-09) closes out the task. It is countersigned by the Service Engineer and the Validation Engineer and referenced inside the Updated Route Dossier (PSR-DS-RD-10) before the unit is re-packed.

3. How is the customs/route dossier updated after a sensor swap?

The Documentation Lead re-issues the commercial invoice and packing list so the post-service configuration matches the line-item description, and attaches the post-service validation report ID. Where lithium is present, the relevant MSDS / UN 38.3 test summary (per the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, ST/SG/AC.10/11/Rev.7) is re-attached with the updated serial-number list.

4. What lithium classification applies for sea freight?

Typical UN numbers for lithium-ion are UN 3481 (contained in equipment) or UN 3536 (packed with equipment). Confirm against the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria (ST/SG/AC.10/11/Rev.7, Part III, Subsection 38.3) using the OEM cell test summary, the IATA DGR, and the IMO IMDG Code for sea.

5. What if the OEM replacement sensor P/N does not match the unit serial?

Stop. The Service Engineer escalates to the OEM distributor before any swap. The Parts Verification Card (PSR-CD-PV-05) is the gate — it must show OEM P/N, lot, OEM service manual revision, and destination-country conformity regime with named issuer + certificate ID before Step 4 begins.
